There are many ways to trek to Machu Picchu and one of the most exciting is the Jungle Trek. This is often very popular among backpackers, because it is cheap and as well as the fact that it combines hiking with many other fun activities. Below we give you an idea of the day-to-day itinerary of what the Jungle Trek implies. The starting point is Wiñayhuayna, up to one of the best options to get to the Machu Picchu citadel.

Day 01: Cusco - Abra Malaga - Santa Teresa

Day 02: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes

Day 03: Machu Picchu - Cusco




Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO – SANTA MARIA- SANTA TERESA.

We will pick you up from the hotel from 05:00 to 05:30 a.m. Then we will go to our restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet, then we will continue to the Sacred Valley of the Incas where we will appreciate beautiful and picturesque natural and cultural attractions, up to Ollantaytambo, where our guide will give us free time of 30 minutes to be able provide us with water and snack or be able to use the hygienic services, then we will approach the mobility to go to the mountain of Abra Málaga at an altitude of 4350 meters above sea level, where we will begin the descent by bicycle, going through small towns, orchards, rivers and streams, culminating our journey in Amaybamba at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level. Once the tour is over we will take the mobility and we will go to the town of Santa María, arriving around 14:00 where we will have lunch, then we will return to the mobility to go to the town of Santa Teresa where we will have the first night of lodging.



DAY 2: SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES.

We get up around 06:00 am to enjoy the traditional breakfast, following the inka jungle trek the guide will give you an option to do CANOPI OR ZIP LINE where you will appreciate a beautiful panorama covered with flora and fauna. If we do not take this option, we will continue our journey until we reach a hydroelectric plant where our appetizing lunch will be waiting for us, we will continue the route by train until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu), where we will spend the last night at the foot of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, tonight our guide will give us some indications about the guided tour that we will have the next day. Dinner and overnight.



DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

This will be the most important day of our trip, for which we will get up very early around 04:30 am, after the instructions of the guide, we will make a small original walk of 1 hour with 40 minutes, going through a beautiful panorama that will lead us until we reach the Inca citadel, upon arrival at the archaeological center of Machu Picchu our guide will give us an explanation of 3 hours, after the explanation we will also have free time to visit individually and take the pictures. At night we will board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our bus will be waiting for us to return to Cusco, arrive and transfer to the hotel and thus ends our hike from the inka jungle to Machu Picchu . End of our excursion.
