This 2 day Inca Trail hike tour program designed for people with limited time but who want to hike a section of the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and enter this Inca Sanctuary through the famous Sun's Gate ("Intipunku" in Quechua language). Waken up and take the tourist transportation to Ollantaytambo train station, there you will take the train to the head trail of the Short Inca Trail. Once arrived, you will present your document in the control of the Km 104. Then starting the hike to the trail. The half-day hike from Chachabamba ruins to Wiñaywayna will take you to the lush vegetation of the cloud forest where exotic birds will salute your passing. Enjoy the scenic views of the Urubamba River. Do not miss the various wild Orchids and bromeliads along the path!!! We will have lunch at Wiñaywayna and have a leisurely afternoon to discover the Wiñaywayna archeological site, refreshing time at the nearby creek or keep up with reading or writing. In late afternoon, you walking up to the Intipunku, where you can view the lost city of the Incas - Machu Picchu. Continuing our hike to Aguas Calientes, spend a night. The next day you will walk up to Machu Picchu, guide tour of the citadel, rest of the time free. In the afternoon you will take the train to Ollantaytambo and private transportation to Cusco.

We will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and take you to the Ollantaytambo train station for your 2 hours train ride to the starting point of your trip. After registering at the Chachabamba park ranger station we will hike up 2-3 hours to the Inca ruins of Wyñay Wayna through a mixture of cacti vegetation and cloud forest. Before reaching the famous Inca Trail, the Inca realm will reveal itself to you through striking sightings of Choque Suysuy, Wiñay Wayna and Intipata. Refresh yourself at the local waterfall before reaching the ruins of Wiñay Wayna. Enjoy the sunset at the sungate before entering in Machupicchu where afterwards we descends to Aguas Calientes, walking slowly and enjoying the beautiful sceneray to spend the night in a hostel.
Very early, we will walk up to Machupicchu where we will discover the mysteries surrounding Machu Picchu, as your guide will explain you few facts about this important Inca site. If time permits, climb up to Huayna Picchu & explore the Temple of the Moon before heading down to Aguas Calientes to board your train back to Cusco.
For the sake of maintaining the Inca Trail and its surroundings, the Peruvian authorities now limit the number of Inca Trail trekking permits to 500 per day, including hikers, guides and other support staff. Permits frequently sell out various months before and you have to reserve well in advance to obtain your place, especially if you want to go in high season between June and August.
We advise booking your permit at least four months in advance to prevent any letdowns. You can possibly find more economic flights in May, September and October, in the off season. Permit availability can change quickly and cannot be confirmed until it is reserved in the Culture Ministry office (Once passport details are recieved and the deposit has been paid). Once authorized it is not possible to make any changes to your Inca Trail permit. Your Passport for the Inca Trail.
You need to supply us with your passport details when you request your Inca Trail. We cannot make a reservation without this. Your permit is connected to your name and passport number. If you change your passport after or are planning on traveling with a different passport you need to also bring the passport you used to book your Inca Trail permit or you will not be allowed to hike the Inca Trail. It is very important to make sure that your passport is valid for 6 months.
When reserving your tour you will pay your 50% deposit. We will issue a confirmation invoice, which means your booking has been accepted and a contract exists. If we are unable to confirm a tour we will refund your deposit in full.
The Inca Trail is closed once a year (in Febuary) for maintainence and during this time we can offer you other tours. There are another options where you can have a similar experience, which are usually not as difficult and follow the Urubamba River before ending as usual at the sungate at Machu Picchu.
Please note that all routes to Machu Picchu are subject to local regulations and prices for permits and transportation may change without notice. Although we will aim to deal with any changes ourselves, it may be inevitable to increase our prices accordingly even after you have booked or whilst on your tour.
