Tourism in Peru has been growing steadily. In recent years has become the fourth largest foreign exchange generating activity in the country, with a contribution of more than 17 billion nuevos soles, which represented 3.5% of the PBI (domestic product). In this context and taking into account that the Natural Protected Areas (ANP) they are the destinations most visited by national and foreign tourists, the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP) as the governing body, it is linked to the national tourism policy through the following guidelines:
• Promote sustainable tourism as a conservation strategy for the ANP.
• Generate opportunities for profitable tourism businesses that minimize the negative impacts and involve local populations.
• Facilitate the development of a diversified tourist offer on the values natural and cultural activities of the ANP.
That is why, with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) and actors linked to tourism, SERNANP has updated and improved the Complementary Provisions to the Regulations of Tourist Use of ANP, approved by Presidential Resolution No. 023- 2014, which aim to generate investment opportunities in sustainable tourism through modalities of granting rights such as: concessions, tourism service contracts, authorizations, permits and agreements.
