The tour includes a short walk of approximately 1 hour, it is worth doing it since at the end you will find one of the most beautiful views. Most of the lagoons in Peru are characterized by having a dark blue color, however, the Humantay lagoon has a particular color. The turquoise color of this lagoon is due to the glacial bottom of the basin where the melting waters of the mountain of Humantay rest. The hue of the color of the lagoon will steal your heart and you will have the curiosity to know why turquoise.

Detailed Itinerary

ITINERARY: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa - Humantay Lagoon:

We will go through their respective hotel to pick them up between 4:45 and 5:30 am and then travel by private transport to the town of Mollepata located in the lush valley of the Apurímac River. After a well-deserved breakfast to fill us with energy we will continue our trip to Soraypampa (3900msnm) after a short break, we will begin our trek to Humantay lake located at 4200mt 13779 feet, after the ascent of 1 hour and 30 min approximately we will be able to appreciate such a wonderful place and we will return to our camp to have our lunch with beautiful panoramic views of the snowy peaks and later they will be transferred to the city of Cusco.

  • Pick up from your hotel (your hotel should be close to the main square of Cusco, otherwise we will coordinate a meeting point)

WHAT TO BRING?

  • Small backpack: Since the tour is only one day, it will not be necessary to use a large backpack for all the things you need to carry.
  • Clothing: A pair of shirts, a pair of waterproof pants and underwear. It is recommended to wear gloves to protect hands.
  • Trekking shoes: Although specialized shoes are not necessary, it is recommended to wear shoes with good grip.
  • Swimwear: In case you want to try a bath in the waters of the lagoon, you should include a bathing suit in your backpack.
  • Snacks: Take some light snacks with you to recover your energy and maintain good mood throughout the walk.
  • Sun hat: It is important that you take care of your skin and protect it from the sun's rays.
  • Sunblock: The sun of the Andes can be very strong but there will be no problem using a good sunscreen.
  • Sunglasses. Protect your eyes from the sun with good dark glasses.
  • Medications: If you are under treatment, do not forget to bring your medications with you.
  • Camera: Fundamental to be able to record those beautiful landscapes and show them to family and friends.
  • Extra batteries: During the journey there are no sources of electrical energy so it is not a bad idea to carry extra batteries for the camera.


Additional information about Humantay Lagoon

  • The difficulty of the walk is not high, but a prior acclimatization is recommended in Cusco.
  • The best time to travel is during the dry season. This is between the months of April to November.
  • This tour is suitable for people of all ages.
