Huchuy Qosqo was a town located at more than 3,550 m.a.s.l on a small plateau at the top of a mountain. From here you can take beautiful views of the other side of the valley, it is possible to appreciate snow-capped mountains of exuberant beauty such as the snow-capped Pitusiray and at the bottom of this privileged view, the town of Calca. It is known by the chroniclers that it was the Inca Wiracocha who ordered the construction of the city of Huchuy Qosqo; it is said that in his old age, he felt tired and wished to leave the government and move away from the movement of the capital of the Tahuantinsuyo empire (Cusco) and seek peace and tranquility in this place; it is built on a territory occupied by several human settlements, over time, these would be dominated and incorporated into the empire of the Incas. One of these settlements must have been on Huchuy Qosqo.

Itinerary

5:30 Pick you up from the hotel and transfer to Chinchero where you will appreciate the Archeological Complex of Chinchero and a living height of the Andean textile

7:00 Reach the Community of Tauca where you will appreciate the lagoon of Piuray

7:30 Start our walk until we reach the first Abra de Pucajasa (4,100 masl) for 10 minutes

7:40 Descend in approximately 1 hour 50 to the Archaeological Complex of Huchuy Qosqo

9:30 Visit to the Archaeological Complex for two hours of visit.

11:30 Continue our walk of a descent with a spectacular view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the district of Lamay for 1 hour and 30 minutes

13:00 Return to the city of Cusco in our transport for 45 minutes.



Detailed Itinerary

Huchuy Qosqo Day Tour

5 am: Departure in the direction of Tambomachay. An Inca archaeological center probably a place dedicated to  worship of water. Here we start our hike up to the Sicllajasa pass where we can see the city of Cusco and continue the trip we will appreciate gorges like the Ccauca ravine and from here you can already feel and see the typical landscapes of the mountains of Cusco as well as the pineapple straw Ichu used by the Incas to build bridges and houses. Continuing the trip we will begin to see Alpacas, Llamas and birds of the zone Until the lagoon of Qeullacocha. After a short rest we will continue the ascent to the Challuchallu pass, from this place we can see the Piuray and Qoriqocha lagoons and the beautiful landscapes that there are in the place to finally reach the highest point of our trip the Abra de Rumicruz here we will enjoy our snack and nature. After a good rest we will begin the descent to the town of Pucamarca by a beautiful ancient Inca road, finding an Inca bridge on the way, we will pass by a small canyon and a cobbled Inca road that will take us to Huchuy Qosqo. This archaeological site was very important in the Inca times, here I live and died Huayna Capac father of the best Inca Pachacutec after an interesting view of the place we will descend for two hours towards the town of Lamay where our hiking trip ends. From this town we will take the bus back to the city of Cusco.
