Wherever our trips take us, we aim to carry with us our responsible attitudes. This encompasses a way of traveling which is respectful and beneficial to locals, their cultures and environments. We prefer to use public transportation when available, to stay overnight and share meals in the homes of local families, to travel in small groups, and to educate others about sustainable tourism. Following these steps as a small company, we are hopeful we will make big differences in the lives of local people we meet along the way. Our main goal is to offer an exciting and unique adventure while enriching the lives of the people we meet

Tierras Vivas works to support the Peruvian Andean communities of Pilcobamba and Rallan, near Cusco. Our travelers have the opportunity to get to know the local people, and to understand their rich cultural history. Your participation on a Tierras Vivas trip will contribute to supporting the local economies of these communities and help to develop a cross-cultural understanding.
In some of the places we visit we are our own operators, but on many of our trips, Inca Trail Hiking Tours works with highly reputable local operators - Tierras Vivas. These local partners are passionate and enthusiastic about the places they operate in, and offer the same high standards as we aim to provide. By working closely with these local companies, we are best able to return money back into the local economies where we travel with our groups.
